First, the individual item or items should have a minimum value of $1,500 per item to be considered by a commercial equipment lease financing program.  Amounts smaller than this will not likely quality as they  don’t provide much security value to the leasing company.

Second, for start up businesses, as long as the requested amount is under $25,000, the applicant has good credit, a business plan showing how the lease will be repaid, a registered business name, and up to 30% available as a down payment, there is a good chance that lease financing can be arranged.

Third, the equipment should be purchased from a licensed vendor, in the country in which your business is located.  Unless the purchase is for an amount over $50,000, its unlikely a leasing company will want to go through the administration process required for a cross border transaction on a small amount of equipment financing.

Fourth, used photography equipment can be lease financed, but this will likely only work for higher value pieces of equipment with strong manufacturing brands that have a significant remaining useful life.  Refurbished equipment can also be considered for financing provided once again that the brand and remaining useful life is strong.
